The train was travelling from Shulin, New Taipei to Taitung in southeastern Taiwan, when its second and third carriages came off the rails in a tunnel, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported, citing the island's Railway Police Bureau (RPI). At least 48 people died and 66 others were injured in the collision with a runaway truck.
