Yellowjackets-Raising Our Voices- New release coming in September! An outgrowth of L.A. Express guitarist Robben Ford’s band founded in 1977, the Yellowjackets came to full buzzing flight four years later with its debut eponymous jazz-funk album, a salient introduction to a new-styled electric fusion of jazz and R&B—a modern take on Weather Report, if you will—for the post Return to Forever/Headhunters decade. The band was an immediate and controversial hit at the time when the jazz pendulum was beginning to swing back in the acoustic direction. After 33 years of playing together, for the first time in their band-history the Yellowjackets will record and perform with a singer. Grammy nominated Luciana Souza will not only be singing live, she also is the lead vocalist on their new album ”Raising Our Voice” which will be released in September 2018. Yellowjackets will release their 25th original album in September 2018. The album entitled “Raising Our Voice”, featuring the vocals of the Brazilian singer Luciana Souza, takes the group into new unexplored territory. Luciana Souza’s vocals add a depth to the acclaimed quartet’s familiar type of Jazz and helps forge a new direction in sound for the future of the group.
