WW2 repro rations made by Veshmeshok email mmy511@REMOVETHISmail.ru http://veshmeshok.com/ Contact Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Veshmeshok.info/ Contact Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/veshmeshok.info/ Contact VK https://vk.com/veshmeshok -------------- When the tactical situation prohibited the bringing up of hot food for 24 hours or more (which occurred frequently), commanders could authorize soldiers to consume their iron or half-iron rations (eiserne Portionen or halb-eiserne Portionen).* The iron or half-iron ration, which consisted of canned meat and packaged crackers, was similar to the American Army’s K-Ration, though it was packed more simply and lacked many of the sundry items (such as cigarettes, chewing gum and instant coffee) that G.I.s were accustomed to. In Dr. Hoehne's Der Feldverpflegungsbeamte (The Field Food Service Official) published in 1939, a book which serves as the cook’s version of the Reibert’s manual, the rules governing the use of iron rations are covered in Chapter VII, Section C, Paragraph 3. It stated that "Whenever supplies and local procurement are not available, troops must utilize their iron rations…To prepare for cases such as these, two iron rations will be kept on hand for men and one ration of fodder for the horses. Regarding the two iron rations, the reduced ration (i.e., the halb-eisernes Portion) will be carried by each man. It consists of Zweiback and canned meat and is intended to be consumed in the case that rations cannot be provided by the field kitchen.” ------------- Screenshots: /user/TheRastaShaman/videos ------------- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crombatrations/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crombatrations/ Vkontakte: https://vk.com/crombatrations

@metridix14524 years ago Here is the translation for minute :)
Comrade! Do you know crispbread ?
Crispbread is wholemeal bread and contains body-building ingredients that you cannot and must not do without.
Crispbread steels (hardens) your body and makes you more resistant to diseases!
Crispbread reduces the feeling of thirst and should therefore be in your pocket when marching, doing exercises and fighting.
Crispbread is a valuable addition to army bread .
Therefore, comrade eat crispbread; distribute it evenly to every day.

@eduardoangeles87592 years ago Do you know what the expiration date on the rations are
  • @
@iac43576 years ago This is more of a deluxe ration.
The actual Half Iron Ration consisted of 250 grams (8.8 ozs) of boxed cookies, biscuits or thumb sized biscuits stored in a cloth bag; and 200 grams (7.05 ozs) of canned mystery meat.
It was all carried in a small canvas bag on the soldier's back.
See the web site Der Ester Zug for more info !

@xMkVTEKKIx5 years ago Is there an English language way to order reproduction rations? I went to the website, but my understanding of Cyrillic characters is nil. Also, is the beginning scene from a movie? If so, what's the name of it, I'd like to watch it. ...

@dennisknickrehm36876 years ago Maybe a bit late, but the text on the "Crackers" (Knäckebrot) translates as follows:
    "Comrade, do you know crispbread?
crisp bread is whole grain bread and contains body building (literally translated) ingredients that you should and must not miss.
crisp bread will steel your body and make you (more) resitant against diseases!
crisp bread lowers your thirst and is essential for marches, training and combat situations (lit.: belongs into your pocket)
crisp bread is a valuable addition to the army bread (literally translated)
So, comrade, eat crisp bread, so distribute it equally on every day."
Pretty neat made pack tho, except for some typos. I like how you explain it to the very detail :)
