Sabudana khichdi is an Indian dish made of Tapioca pearls, potatoes, and peanuts and herbs. It is very popular in india as a healthy breakfast and fasting food and is consumed during Navratri. Sabudana or tapioca pearls are widely used in Indian Cuisine to make Sabudana vada, Sabudana kheer and khichdi. Soaking Sabudana Rinse 1 cup of Sabudana or tapioca pearls(or as per your requirement ) a couple of times in running water until all the starch is washed away. Soak the Sabudana in water. The water level can be 1 to 1.5 inches above the level of Sabudana. In this video the Sabudana pearls are already soaked. Depending on the quality of Sabudana pearls you can soak them overnight or for some hours. I always soak them overnight until they soften. To check if the Sabudana has become soft or not ,you should be easily able to press the Sabudana and it should get mashed up easily. If there is some hardness in the center of the Sabudana pearls, then add a few tablespoons of water in the bowl. Cover and leave for 30 minutes more. Using a strainer strain all the water from the Sabudana pearls well. Do strain very well as there should be no extra water in the Sabudana. Keep aside. Ingredients 2-3 cups soaked Sabudana ( or as per your requirement) sago/tapioca pearls 2 tablespoons cooking oil 1 spoon cumin seeds 1 medium size boiled chopped potato Half bowl of roasted crushed peanuts 2-3 green chillies chopped 8-9 curry leaves 1 spoon coriander powder One fourth spoon black pepper powder Salt as per taste 1 lemon Chopped green coriander.
