Garmin GPSMAP 4012 Marine Chartplotter Repair - Not Receiving GPS Satellite Signals

This Garmin GPSMAP 4012 Chartplotter is not receiving GPS Satellites - opening up the GPS receiver showed the cause of the problem, the NMEA2000 connector on the base was spinning freely against the cases locking notch so it twisted the cable around so many times it shorted all the conductors (power and data) together and sheared them off the solder side of the connector. Customer had already replaced the GPS receiver unit with a new one so the fault is within the GPSMAP 4012 unit itself, A visual inspection of the interface board shows 1 dual schottky diode blown off the board and another single schottky diode on the opposite side of the pcb shorted out probably due to a voltage surge on the data lines when the wiring went short circuit. Replacing both components and fixing the wiring and connector of the broken GPS receiver unit and adding a 12V power tap for testing shows everything is now working fine with the unit picking up GPS satellites and displaying location mapping data...
