After passing SSC and HSC from Dhaka, Alauddin Al-Azad earned his BA (Honors) and MA in 1953 and 1954 from the University of Dhaka. Successively, the poet did his PhD from London University in 1970 for his work Iswar Gupter Jeebon o Kabita. Apart from this, he worked as a first secretary of Bangladesh High Commission in Moscow. The curriculum of school level, secondary, higher secondary and graduation level Bengali Literature in Bangladesh were compiled by the poet and author Alauddin Al-Azad.
