Pakora, also called pakoda, pakodi, fakkura, bhajiya, bhajji, bhaji or ponako, is a fried snack, originating from South Asia. It is a popular snack across the Indian subcontinent, where it is served in restaurants and sold by street vendors. Bread pakora is easy to prepare and its yum for every bite!
Ingredients
Bread slice 6
Chopped onion 1
Chopped green chilli 2
Chopped curry leaves 1 tbsp
Chopped Coriander leaves 2 tbs
Chopped ginger 1 tbs
Chopped capcicum 2 tbsp
Chopped cabbage 1/4 cup
Maida 2 tbs
Rice flour 1 tbs
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Chicken masala powder 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida 2 pich
Chilli flakes 1/2 tsp
Salt as needed
water 1tbs
Preparation steps
1. Preparation for pakora recipe
2. Soak the bread in water and drain it. Transfer it to a bowl.
3. Add to a bowl along with ginger garlic, chilies, salt, green chili, garam masala, mint or other herbs.
4. Mix well. Keep aside for 10 mins.
5. Adjust salt if needed. Add few tbsps water if needed to make a dough.
6. Mix well. Keep aside for 10 mins.
7. Mix well to make a stiff dough.
8. Heat oil in a deep pan.
9. When the oil is hot, slide a small portion of the dough to check if the oil is hot enough.
10. The pakora dough must rise without browning a lot. This is the right temperature.
11. Then gently drop small portions of the dough after flattening a bit.
12. Keep stirring and fry on a medium heat until lightly golden.
13. Finish frying the pakora dough in batches.
14. Serve bread pakora hot with a cup of tea or green chutney.
