Do not use a wire brush – you can quite easily score the pistons and damage the seals if you are careless. Torque settings (BA Falcon): Brake hose to caliper - 23Nm - 26Nm (17 - 19 ft lb) Caliper bleed valves - 12Nm - 16Nm (9 - 12 ft lb) (small) caliper bolts (fixing caliper to bracket) 27Nm (20 ft lb) (Large) caliper mounting bolts 115Nm (85 ft lb) Maximum wheel nut torque 135Nm (99 ft lb). Wheels should be tightened in criss-cross star shaped pattern, repeat to ensure tightness. Generally speaking, on most cars with steel wheels; tightening wheel nuts by hand as hard as you can is correct – Just don't stand on wheel brace to tighten further.
